Architecture of the Dolmabahce Palace Museum

The Dolmabahce Palace was built on an area of 250 . 000 m² . The built area is about 45 , 000 m2 (11 . 2 acres) , which contains 285 rooms , 44 halls and 6 baths (hamam) . There are two main gates and seven side ones in addition to five gates on the sea front . The main building comprises of three sections , namely the State Office (Mabeyn-i Humayun) , Auction Hall and Private Office . Private Office is a two-storey building overlooking the sea where Sufera (envoy) Saloon on the upper floor is one of the very impressive sections . Auction Hall is located between the State and Private Offices . It is square planned covered with a dome from the inside and a roof from the outside and has some rich decorations .

The Crystal Staircase is very famous in this palace . It is built of Baccarat crystal , brass and mahogany and has the shape of a double horseshoe . There are also a large number of Hereke palace carpets made by the Hereke Imperial Factory . Some of the bearskin rugs are 150-year-old and were originally presented as a gift to the Ottoman sultan by the Tsar of Russia .
