Native Name: Anadolu Hisari
Fortress of Anatolia is located on the Asian side of the Bosporus, which also gives its name to the area around it. It was built in 1394 by Ottoman sultan Bayezid I who was intending to conquer Istanbul in between 1394¬1395.
The fortress is square planned and consists of a 25 m long four floored tower as well as five watchtowers at the corners surrounding it and walls. Larger walls, towers and Some extension buildings like warehouse and houses were constructed by Mehmet. the Conqueror to increase the fortress attacking power, when he was building the Fortress of Rumeli. The fortress was used in 17th and 18th century to stop Kazak raids however, the construction of new fortifications on the north of the Bosphorus caused the fortress to loose its function....
