Arnavutkoy



Arnavutkoy (meaning "Albanian village") is a historic village and one of the oldest settlements in Bosphorus. The village is famous for its wooden mansions and fish restaurants as well as the Robert College campus with its centennial buildings. it lies on the European side of Bosphorus and is part of the Beşiktaş of Istanbul. Today, Arnavutköy is also a district of Istanbul Province. Constantine built Hagios Mikhail Church in this village. The Church was then devastated during the Latin occupation and its stones were used in the construction of Rumeli Fortress. There are some waterside mansions belonging to Sultan's wives spread in this area and date from 18th century till the beginning of 19th century.
