Native Name: Bebek Camii
The Bebek Mosque is located in the historic Bebek quarter, next to the Bebek Quay, on the banks of the Bosphorus. The Mosque was built in 1913 by Architect Kemalettin to replace an older mosque that was built by Nevsehirli Damat Ibrahim Pasa who was the grand-vizier of Ahmed III. The old mosque was standing beside the coastal palace of Hümayunabad which collapsed in 1846. The area of the palace was turned into a public park where the current mosque today stands next to, as well as a small ferry station, that occupy part of the former palace's site also. The population in the Bebek quarter began to increase after the construction of various buildings in the reign of Ahmet III.
