Duyun-u Umumiye Building



Native name: Duyun-u Umumiye Binasi The building, which was formerly known as Duyun-u Umumiye, dates from 1897. It was built for an institution by the same name. This institution was founded when the Ottoman State could not pay its outside debts in the 19th century anymore and thus Some income of Turkish Treasury was to be collected by this institution and paid to the creditors. The architect who designed the building is Alexandre Vallaury and the style of the building is apparently neo-classical. The building is functioning today as Istanbul High School.
