Turkish Name: Hagia Triada Rum Kilisesi
The original place of the church was a Greek cemetery where there used to be also a wooden church that was dedicated to Hagios Georgios. After Tunzimat Farmani (Reforms Decree) was declared, Zapyon Girls School was built in the place of the wooden church and the Patriarchate that took the permission to build a church removed parts of the cemetery and built Hagia Triada Church. Construction of the church began in 1867 by the architect Vasilaki loannidi. It was then opened to worship thirteen years later on September, 1880.
The large courtyard in which Hagia Triada is located is surrounded by high walls and has dormitories and official buildings related to the church. A holy spring dedicated to Hagios Georgios is found in the courtyard as well. T...Read More
