Milion Stone is located nearby Basilica Cistern. This stone was said to be designating the center of the city and was used during the Byzantine times for all measurements of distance. It was the first of the stone signs that was used for showing the length of other places to the capital in the land of the empire. When someone in the ancient was used to say that a certain place is some miles from Constantinopolis, he meant that the place is some miles from this stone. This stone in its original was a a square-plan single domed building carried by arches on four columns.
