Pertevniyal Valide Sultan Mosque, also known as the Aksaray Valide Mosque, is located at the intersection of Ordu Caddesi and Atatürk Bulvarı in the Aksaray neighbourhood. It was built by Pertevniyal Valide Sultan, the mother of Abdulaziz and the wife of Mahmut II. Construction works began in 1869 and completed in 1871. The architect who designed the mosque is probably Sarkis Balyan, however some scholars claim that it was designed by the Italian architect Montani.
