Native name: Türk-Islam Eserleri Müzesi Turkish and Islamic Arts Museum is located in Sultanahmet Square in Eminönü district. It was constructed in 1524 as a private palace that was given as a present to Ibrahim Pasha who was the grand vizier for thirteen years of sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. It is considered the only private palace that has reached today. The museum has rich manuscripts, miniature manuscripts and collections of various examples of Turkish-lslamic art of 7th to 20th centuries. There are also unique collections of carpet belonging to different periods as well as ethnographic displays on various cultures in Turkey, examples regarding carpet-rug counters, wool painting and exhibition of public life.
