Cagaloglu Hammam was built by Mahmut I in order to provide income to Hagia Sophia between 1741 and 1742. It is considered the oldest functioning hammam (Turkish steam bath) in Istanbul. One of the noticeable features of the building is the arched portals in the inside. It is a double hammam with separate sections for women and men. Cagaloglu hammam carries some innovations in its inner parts. There is also noticeable use of baroque style elements. The hammam is opened for men between 08:00am - 10:00pm and for women between 08:00am – 8:00pm.
