Mihrimah Sultan Mosque at Üsküdar

The mosque is part of a complex of buildings (a kulliye) which is located in Üsküdar Square just across the local ferry pier near Marmaray construction site . Mihrimah Sultan , daughter of Kanuni Sultan Slileyman , had the mosque built by architect Mimar Sinan . It was completed in 1548 . The complex structure was originally consisting of a mosque that has two minarets , a madrassa , tomb , primary school , caravanserai , soup kitchen , and a small hospital , however most of these buildings have not reached today .

The madrassa is located to the north of the mosque . It is used today as a small health center . The tombs between the mosque and the madrassa belong to Mihrimah's two sons and the Grand Vizier Ibrahim Ethem Pasha . The primary school is found on the kiblah side of the mosque . The other buildings of the hospice , soup kitchen and caravanserai are no longer exist now .

Inside the courtyard of the mosque , there is a fountain that stands in the middle . The mosque has a single dome and two minarets . The lower windows are rectangular framed and have simple characteristics , there are other windows over them which are
triangular in shape and have stain glass windows , above them also are circular stained glass windows which are impressive with their emplacement and beauty .
The window shutters have inlay decorations . The Minber and the niche Mihrab are workmanship made of marble and has some fine ornaments .
