Ancient Orient Museum is the first building of the Archaeological Museums . Originally , it was a school which was converted into a museum in 1917 . In this museum , there is a unique and beautiful collection of artifacts brought from Egypt and the Middle Eastern countries which were under Ottoman rule , as well as relics from ancient Anatolian civilizations . Collection includes sarcophagus and mummy examples of Egypt Civilization , plates of various periods and many other objects .

At the entrance of the museum , there are two basalt neo-Hittite lions . The Mesopotamian , Egyptian and Anatolian sections are located on the second floor . There are exhibited artifacts from the old and new Sumerian , Assyrian and Babylonian civilizations , the tombs of the pharaohs and Arabic tomb stone , as well as Hatti-Hittite and Urartu relics . The museum also exhibits a rich collection of cuneiform inscriptions totaling about 70 thousand tablets .
