Turkish Name: Zoodohu Pege "Balikli" Kilisesi
Zoodohu Pege Church is located far away from the city walls , at Kazhcesme which is within Zeytinburnu region among Ballkh Ayasma (Holy Spring) , the most famous ayasma of Istanbul , Merkezefendi and Silivrikaps graveyards .
The ayasma of the church was founded in the era of Emperor Leon I (457-474) as a health center . After the church and ayasma were made , the region outside of the city gained importance . The church itself was subject to many repairing during
Byzantine
period . It was wholly reconstructed by Patriarchate
Constantine
I in 1834 .
The courtyard is covered with gravestone in Karamanli language and has high surrounding walls . The ayasma in northwest corner has the reputation of giving health to patients . The graveyard on the west is entered from a door opening from narthex which belongs to patriarchates and donators .
