Cagaloglu Hammam - Turkish Bath

Cagaloglu Hammam was built by Mahmut I in order to provide income to Hagia Sophia between 1741 and 1742 . It is considered the oldest functioning hammam (Turkish steam bath) in Istanbul . One of the noticeable features of the building is the arched portals in the inside . It is a double hammam with separate sections for women and men . Cagaloglu hammam carries some innovations in its inner parts . There is also noticeable use of baroque style elements . The hammam is opened for men between 08:00am - 10:00pm and for women between 08:00am – 8:00pm .
