Turkish Name: Hagia Triada Rum Kilisesi
The original place of the church was a Greek cemetery where there used to be also a wooden church that was dedicated to Hagios Georgios . After Tunzimat Farmani (Reforms Decree) was declared , Zapyon Girls School was built in the place of the wooden church and the Patriarchate that took the permission to build a church removed parts of the cemetery and built Hagia Triada Church . Construction of the church began in 1867 by the architect Vasilaki loannidi . It was then opened to worship thirteen years later on September , 1880 .
The large courtyard in which Hagia Triada is located is surrounded by high walls and has dormitories and official buildings related to the church . A holy spring dedicated to Hagios Georgios is found in the courtyard as well . The structure has the form of a basilica while the dome carries the characteristics of European eclectical architecture . A half dome is covering the apse behind the marble iconostasis and there are three steps as well . There are Icons at the fronts of the galleries extending in two sides . The Church exhibits a fascinating look for its motifs , frescoes and relief techniques .
